Sermon Questions

June 7, 2026

Richard White, Pastor

Ezekiel 37:1-14

"The Spirit and Dry Bones"

  1. What stands out to you in this passage about God?  What about His people?
  2. How is it good news that God meets us in our deadness, our graveyards?
  3. Where have you said, in effect, “my bones are died up, my hope is lost, I am cut off [from….]?”  What feels like a graveyard in your life right now?
  4. Why do you think God asks Ezekiel, “Can these bones live?”  What does that question address in Ezekiel?
  5. Why is the process of restoration detailed in stages (bone to bone, sinews, flesh, skin, breath)? What might this gradual process teach us about how God works?
  6. How do the elements of Word and Prayer work together in this passage?
  7. What do you think about asking for the Holy Spirit’s repeated filling/empowerment? Do you think this is something that was limited to Pentecost or something we should continually and regularly ask of God?  How does your answer fit with Jesus’ word about asking the Father for the Holy Spirit, Luke 11:13?
  8. If your life was a house, where would the Spirit be in your house?  To what extent is He ever consigned to a room?
  9. What are some dry bone situations in your life, community, church?  Are you willing, in these situations, to pray (prophesy to the breath) - Come, O Holy Spirit and to wait in hopeful faith on the Lord?  If so, do so as a group.
